We aim to achieve the best possible support for all of the people who use our services and to tailor them to suit each individual’s personal needs and particular skills.
Our day activities in the North West are organised from our regional base at Stanley Grange. We offer a wide range to enable people with learning disabilities to undertake a variety of different experiences.
We establish an ongoing development plan for every person using Person Centred Planning, which not only monitors progress, but also plots a forward path towards personal goals. Our staff teams ensure that everyone is supported to express their own views and to make choices and to take decisions that will affect their future. We fully encourage the involvement of families and friends in this process, as well as that of outside agencies and professionals.
Catering
As well as the catering training that is offered on site at Stanley Grange, we now run two cafes in Witton Country Park, Blackburn:the Pavilion Restaurant and the Old Stables
Tea Rooms. These busy catering establishments provide an excellent opportunity for our trainees to gain their skills in a real business environment.
Pottery
Our Pottery at Stanley Grange has proved enormously successful over the years, and many of our clients, quite rightly, have established a name for themselves through the production of a stunning range of items. While this is still a popular activity on site, we have recently established Pottery in the Park, a facility based at Whitton Park, which we anticipate will prove just as popular with our customers.
Horticulture
Horticulture is a very popular activity at Stanley Grange, and as well as the hive of activity that takes place around the greenhouses and gardens on site throughout the growing season and beyond, there are a variety of off-site projects that our trainees undertake.
Worden Park
Worden Park in Leyland is a Grade II listed Victorian country park that covers 63 ha incorporating formal gardens laid out by the famous landscape architect W A Nesfield. With over 300,000 visitors each year, the Park enjoys an enviable reputation in the area, and upkeep of the grounds is an enormous and important task. CARE’s horticulture trainees, working through a joint social enterprise set up by the local council, are very much a part of the team that looks after the Park.
There is also a wide variety of other vocational and recreational activities available that offers people real choice and a range of interesting and challenging experiences. These include Craft, Photography, CarValeting, Music & Drama, Walking, Music, Dance and relaxation. We also offer cycling using a range of specialist bikes (bikes, trikes, tandems, tandem trikes & side by side).
Many of our trainees take their vocational training further into Voluntary or Supported Employment. Our Job Coach provides invaluable encouragement and guidance throughout the whole process of seeking and securing work and then ongoing to ensure success.
