We are dedicated to providing a quality service that fully meets the individual needs of the people with learning disabilities using our services in the region. Our experienced staff teams use Person Centred Planning to ensure that we assist people to take as much control over their lives as possible. We seek to provide a meaningful, structured day for all of our clients, whatever their level of ability, whilst creating opportunities for everyone to further their education, undertake vocational training and to achieve work experience or real employment.
We offer a wide variety of day classes and activities that help to broaden each person’s skill base. We encourage and support participation to enable everyone to gain from their experiences and then provide the support to allow them to develop the activities that interest each person the most. There is a strong work ethos and many of our clients go on to achieve supported work placements as they gain in self confidence and self esteem.
Our activities range from Arts and Crafts, Drama, IT and Leisure to those where we have already established training routes into employment, such as Catering and Horticulture. ‘Crumbles’ Community Café in nearby Madeley is an example of how CARE seeks to bring their training into the heart of the community. Trainees at ‘Crumbles’ are developing their catering skills in a real business environment with the benefit of increased social interaction and personal development.
Horticulture on site at Forbes Close is a popular activity and there are many of our clients who have gained valuable gardening skills and are now supported to provide external garden services to people living in the area. Our Woodwork, too, produces wonderful craft items that are sold on site, the profit of which helps to maintain and develop services for the future.
We have a dedicated Employment Coach that offers specialist advice to people wanting to achieve supported employment or a real work placement. The Coach helps match the person with suitable vacancies and provides individual advice and encouragement to ensure that they succeed in their choice.
All of our day activities can be accessed flexibly by people with learning disabilities that have Individualised Budgets. You can purchase from one to five days each week and we can even arrange transport to and from your home. You will find a friendly face and many willing hands to help support you with your chosen activity.
